We are a free-standing radiation treatment center serving west-central Illinois and eastern Iowa since 1987.  We have the latest treatment technology and state-of-the art equipment. Our staff includes Board Certified Radiation Oncologists and Medical Physicists, Registered Nurses, a Medical Dosimetrist, and accredited Radiation Therapists.

Our focus is the patient.  We understand the difference between cancer patients and other medical patients and we have designed our facility with those needs in mind.

We participate in over 65 insurance carriers and accept assignment on Medicare.  We file all medical claims and work with patients on the financial aspect of their treatments, if needed.

We are located on the western edge of the Hawthorne Centre, just off North Seminary Street, in Galesburg, Illinois.

Radiation Therapy

Treatment provided by the Western Illinois Cancer Treatment Center.

External Beam Therapy

In this type of therapy, a beam of radiation is directed through the skin to the cancer and the immediate surrounding area.

Brachytherapy

Also known as internal radiation, this type of therapy consists of placing radioactive material into a tumor or its surrounding tissue.

Three-Dimensional Conformal Radiation Therapy (3D-CRT)

Tumors are not regular—they come in different shapes and sizes. 3D-CRT uses computers and special imaging techniques to show the size, shape and location of the tumor.
CAT scans, MRI scans and/or PET scans are used to create detailed, three-dimensional representations of the tumor and surrounding organs. The beams can then be tailored precisely to the size, shape and location of the tumor.
